I'm taking action to help end homelessness.

Every night, I am grateful to climb into a warm bed, under a roof I can call home, with my family safely cocooned in their own rooms.

Not so long ago, our family faced some really difficult times. There were periods when I was unable to work, and we relied on support and assistance to help us keep a roof over our heads. The possibility of losing our family home felt all too real, and it gave me a deep appreciation for just how quickly circumstances can change. I often think about those facing that reality today, especially parents trying to provide stability and security for their children.

These days, I am incredibly fortunate to work in a job that I absolutely love, helping people secure homes through a mortgage broker's office. Every day, I get to play a small part in helping families achieve their dream of having a place to call home. Seeing their excitement and knowing that I contribute, even in a small way, to that journey is something I never take for granted.

Because of my own experiences, and because I know how much having a safe place to call home matters, I wanted to do something to help. By taking part in Mission Australia's Sleep In Your Car event, I hope to raise awareness and give my family and friends an opportunity to support those who are doing it tough.

I've committed to sleeping in my car overnight this August. It's one uncomfortable night for me, but for far too many Australians, uncertainty and insecurity around housing are a daily reality.

The rising cost of living, domestic violence, and a shortage of affordable housing are all contributing to Australia's homelessness crisis. By giving up one night of comfort, I'm helping raise awareness and vital funds to support Mission Australia's life-changing services for individuals and families experiencing homelessness.
