I'm taking action to help end homelessness.

I’ve always been passionate about community service and supporting young people experiencing hardship.

Homelessness in Australia is a much bigger issue than many people realise. 2021 ABS data shows almost 20% of people experiencing homelessness in WA are young people. The impacts can be lifelong, contributing to poverty, relationship difficulties, and poor mental and physical health. AIHW data also shows that nearly 1 in 5 people who died by suicide had experienced sleeping rough at some point in their lives.

There are also so many stereotypes surrounding homelessness. The reality is that anyone can find themselves without secure housing, and every person deserves safety, dignity, and support. Homelessness can be linked to cost-of-living pressures, domestic violence, mental health challenges, dysfunctional family environments, abuse, and many other circumstances.

That’s why I’ve decided to take part in Mission Australia’s “Sleep In Your Car” initiative. On the 8th of August, I’ll be spending the night sleeping in my car to help raise awareness and funds for people experiencing homelessness.

The money raised will help provide emergency relief and support services for people doing it tough, including essentials like food, clothing, and connections to housing and support services.

If you’re in a position to donate, I would be incredibly grateful for your support. And if donating isn’t possible right now, sharing this post would mean just as much and could help it reach someone who can. You’re also welcome to join my team and be a part of the initiative!

Thank you for your support!!
