I'm taking action to help end homelessness - Sleep In Your Car (SIYC)

I’ve committed to sleeping in my car overnight this August – it’s a bad night’s sleep for a good cause.

The increased cost of living, impact of domestic violence, and lack of affordable housing are all factors contributing to a homelessness crisis in Australia. I’ve joined Sleep In Your Car  (SIYC) to raise awareness and vital funds to help families find a safe home. By giving up one night of comfort, I am raising awareness and vital funds to help end homelessness.

I’d love your support today by contributing to the life-changing services provided by Mission Australia.

Together, we can ensure that all Australians have a safe place to call home.

Tonight's The Night! (Friday 14 August 2026)

Friday 14th Aug

TONIGHT’S THE NIGHT — and it’s still not too late to donate.

🚗 One night. One car. Zero comfort. Big impact.

Tonight I’m sleeping in my car* for Mission Australia’s Sleep In Your Car (SIYC) — with the second half of Team WAkey WAkey to raise funds for Wattle House. Funds raised stay local and your support genuinely makes a huge difference for our community.

For me, it’s one rough night. For thousands of people experiencing homelessness, it’s every night.

🩷 We’re pushing for $10,000+, and every dollar helps provide Emergency Relief and essentials to locals doing it tough. If you’re able to chip in — even a small amount — I’d be incredibly grateful.

PS: City of Perth’s Council House will be lit up Mission Australia Magenta both Friday 14 and Saturday 15 August to celebrate SIYC!

* I’m sleeping in “Gracie”, my Kia Cerato, which I learnt last year at the 2025 SIYC event, is about 300mm shorter than my body needs it to be 😉

🚗💤 Sleep In Your Car 2026 is officially LIVE! (Or as we call it, SIYC)

Monday 11th May
Team WAkey WAkey is back for another year — fuelled by purpose, community spirit and a slightly questionable ability to sleep in a hatchback Kia Cerato.

Last year, thanks to the incredible generosity of our community, WAkey WAkey won the $10,000 grant, which went straight into supporting local Perth programs. That funding was desperately needed — and it made a real, immediate difference for families doing it tough.

🩷🩷🩷 This campaign has always been about one thing: Fundraising by the community, for the community.

This August, we’ll once again give up a night of comfort to sleep in our cars — a small act that shines a light on the very real challenges facing thousands of Australians. Rising living costs, domestic violence, and a severe shortage of affordable housing continue to push more people into homelessness.

By joining Sleep In Your Car, we’re raising awareness and vital funds to help families find safety, stability and a place to call home.

And we’d love your support — big or small, every donation matters.

🩷 Together, we can ensure all Australians have a safe place to call home.
🩷 Together, we can show what community really looks like.
